a. Ask your boss for their opinion b. Ask your partner for their opinion c. Ask your best friend for their opinion d. Call an EQ coach and take an EQ assessment
Our lives are full of "emotional intelligence happenings" these days. In fact resilience, or change proficiency, is one of the major EQ competencies. The degree of emotional intelligence we've mastered affects every aspect of our lives -- careers and relationships, success, happiness, health and wealth.
The correct answer to each of these questions is "d".
If you're sensing that emotional intelligence is crucial, you're right. You probably have an idea of what "it" involves - maturity, common sense, planning, impulse control, being able to make things happen - but you may not be sure how to improve yours.
INCREASE YOUR EQ PROGRAM
There are two important things to understand about emotional intelligence.
1. You can learn the skills. 2. You cannot learn them alone, or by reading a book.
Because EQ involves social and emotional skills, it must be practiced and learned in a social and emotional environment with expert feedback. The best way to increase your skills is to enter an Emotional Intelligence program with an EQ coach.
PROGRAM
The EQ Foundation Course©, a distance learning course with 12 weekly modules, can save your myriads of time, introducing you to the theory and terminology. It is unique in that it actually increases your EQ as you take it.
Then contract for at least three months of coaching with a trained and certified EQ coach. This is the only way you can understand what you need to do differently. You'll be given the EQ-MapT to assess your highs and lows, and you and your coach will decide what to work on and how to go about it.
Remember, you can't just read about this in a book. After all, if you knew how to do it, you'd be doing it already.
