FIND YOUR SHARK TO FIND YOUR WEALTH!

by Garth Gibson
It is well known that the Japanese love of fish is almost as strong as a bee's attraction to honey. Some would say it is insatiable.

But long ago fishing companies had a big challenge.

Fish populations were dwindling. This forced companies to fish further and further away from shore.

But then fishing companies had a new challenge.

How to keep the fish fresh for longer and longer periods of time.

They finally decided to keep the fish stored in freezers that would be installed on the boats. But the Japanese public did not like frozen fish.

So again the fishing companies had big challenge.

What they decided was to install fish tanks on their boats.

They would catch the fish put them in the tanks and let them live there until they got back to shore. But in this protected environment lacking of predators the fish stopped moving around. The Japanese public felt these dull slow moving fish did not taste fresh. They stopped buying fish.

Once again the fishing companies had a big challenge.

STOP FOR A MINUTE! Before you go any further I would like to ask you...

What are your challenges? How do you handle an unexpected challenge?

You know I have an 8 month old boy. Right now his challenge is to learn how to walk. So far he meets this challenge with a big smile on his face. I can only assume he is happy, energized and excited with his new challenge.

I think it is true that the more you enjoy a good problem the more you feel competent and confident about your own skills.

Try to attack your challenges. Conquer them. Not with a hammer but a Swiss Army knife. You know the one that has what seems like a 1,000 different tools. Don't get stuck with just a hammer. Find the elegant simple tool that you can adapt to your situation.

Now back to your story.

How did the Japanese finally figure out the fresh fish problem?

Sharks!

I know I thought the same thing too. Sharks EAT fish.

Well that's true they did eat a few. But they also kept the fish active and alert since there was a predator lurking nearby.

Translation...

The fish stayed fresh because they were challenged.

Why don't you stay fresh. Find your own shark to make waves in your own business and personal life.
