AS SURE AS A GUARANTEE CAN BE by Julie Jordan Scott It is as sure as death and taxes and everything in between. This
time of year brings cooling air, sometimes snow, sometimes
damp and thick fog. In addition to climactic changes, the end
of one year and the beginning of another year invites introspection,
contemplation and the promise of a clean slate of a bright shiny
new year right around the corner.
People value simple, straightforward methods to effortlessly
and clearly understand their personalized pathways to successful
growth and life satisfaction. You can start using this method now
and continue to build with it over time.
It will allow you to do several things:
1. Consciously express gratitude for the people, events,
places and accomplishments that have been a component
of your life in the past year.
2. Reflect on your personal patterns of success both in the
Feelings in the Intangible realm and the Rewards in
the Physical Realm.
3. Focus on your successes across a variety of areas.
4. Attract more of those successes into your life by being
laser-like and clear in regards to your definition of success.
Here is the method:
Create a personalized list of "Top 10's" for the year.
Your lists might include "Top 10 Hurdles I Overcame in 2003"
and "Top 10 New People I Met in 2003" and "Top 10 Accomplishments
in My Career (Marriage, Friendships, Parenting, Art, etc) in 2003".
Recently in a Millionaires One By One Group, the members came up
with these ideas as well:
"Top 10 Dinners of 2003"
"Top 10 Glasses of Wine in 2003"
"Top 10 Things I Did for Myself in 2003"
"Top 10 New Connections I Made in 2003"
"Top 10 Books of 2003"
"Top 10 Movies of 2003"
You can also use this as a device to step into 2004 by following up
with several new Top 10's focusing on the future.
"Top 10 Conversation Starters in 2004"
"Top 10 New Books to Read in 2004"
"Top 10 Places I Want to Go in 2004"
"Top 10 Ideas to Research in 2004"
"Top 10 Intriguing People I Want to Get to Know in 2004"
Over the next several days, begin building your lists. For some of
your lists, you may come up with more than a Top 10. That's perfectly
fine. Keep going until the day you initially assigned as the cut off
date. Then really whittle it down to the best of the best of your
list. You might make December 28 your goal for completion of
your "rough draft" lists and then laser in by the end of the month.
As the year continues to wind down, spend some focused time
congratulating yourself on your victories this year.
Look to those victories to begin to create a framework for 2004.
By focusing on your successes: those activities, people, events
and moments which were especially passion evoking this year,
you will come a lot closer to guaranteeing you will experience
many more passion evoking activities, people, events
and moments in 2004.
